Alvin Bragg opposes further delay of NY hush-money trial despite document dump

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office has opposed further postponement of the prosecution against President Trump, despite the need to review additional case-related documents.

Judge Juan Merchan recently extended the trial date by 30 days, moving it from March 25 to April, a delay Bragg's office initially agreed to, although Trump's team requested more time.

The delay stems from federal prosecutors providing over 100,000 documents, prompting Trump's team to seek extra time for review. However, in a filing on Thursday, Bragg's office asserted that the initial 30-day extension should provide adequate time for review, as reported by The Hill.

Prosecutors have contended that only a small portion of the materials are pertinent to Bragg's case.

“The overwhelming majority of the production is entirely immaterial, duplicative or substantially duplicative of previously disclosed materials, or cumulative of evidence concerning Michael Cohen’s unrelated federal convictions that defendant has been on notice about for months,” the prosecutors wrote in Thursday’s filing.
