by | Apr 17, 2026

President Trump said Iran has announced that the Strait of Hormuz is now fully open for passage, while a U.S. naval blockade targeting Iran remains in effect.

In a statement on Truth Social, Trump said the waterway is “completely open and ready for business and full passage,” while clarifying that a U.S. naval blockade targeting Iran will remain in place. He said the restriction applies “to Iran, only,” and will continue until a pending transaction between the United States and Iran is fully completed.

Trump added that the process is expected to move quickly, noting that most terms have already been negotiated.
