Trump Cancels Housing Bill Signing, “Demands” Senate Pass SAVE America Act

by | Jun 24, 2026

President Trump announced Wednesday that he is canceling a planned housing bill signing ceremony until Congress passes the SAVE America Act, calling the legislation a “National Emergency” in a Truth Social post.

Trump is expected to meet with Senate Republicans on Wednesday to “push” for the voting bill, which would require photo ID for federal elections, proof of U.S. citizenship to register, and the transfer of state voter registration rolls to the federal government.

Despite Republican control of the Senate, the legislation has failed multiple times to clear the chamber, with GOP leaders acknowledging they currently lack the votes needed for passage.
