President Trump announced Thursday that he is nominating former Fox News Channel contributor and radiologist Dr. Nicole Saphier for surgeon general after Dr. Casey Means’ confirmation stalled in the Senate.
Saphier is a radiologist and director of breast imaging at Memorial Sloan Kettering Monmouth, according to her profile on the institution’s website. She holds a medical degree from Ross University School of Medicine in Barbados and completed fellowships at the Mayo Clinic, the profile stated.
In a Truth Social post Thursday, President Trump said Dr. Means, whom he described as “a strong MAHA Warrior” originally recommended by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., would continue advancing the MAHA agenda despite “intransigence and political games” from GOP Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, who had questioned her during her Senate hearing and apparently played a role in slowing her nomination.
