Newly declassified FBI records released Tuesday by Sen. Chuck Grassley detail fresh allegations of foreign bribery involving Joe and Hunter Biden tied to Ukrainian energy firm Burisma Holdings. The files summarize 2017 and 2019 interviews with bureau sources who linked the Bidens to a potential bribery “scheme” with Burisma owner Mykola Zlochevsky.
Informants alleged that Zlochevsky offered then–Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko $100 million in shares and gas profits to end an Interpol probe into Burisma, where Joe and Hunter Biden allegedly held investments through a Latvian shell company. One file claimed Joe Biden met with Poroshenko to protect his son’s interests while Hunter was earning about $1 million a year as a Burisma board member. The document further alleged that two CIA officers intervened to shield Zlochevsky and secure his return to Ukraine through a $3 million settlement.
Another 2019 record tied Biden and his associates to a reverse merger between Burisma and Texas-based CUB Energy, which sources described as part of a larger money laundering network linked to Poroshenko, Viktor Medvedchuk, and Vladimir Putin. A separate 2017 file stated Joe Biden would “take care” of Burisma’s global issues while Poroshenko would protect Zlochevsky.
Grassley, who obtained the records from FBI whistleblowers, released them alongside Sen. Ron Johnson. He noted this marks the third set of FBI informant files to raise bribery allegations against the Bidens, saying, “We aren’t saying the allegations are true, we want to know what the FBI did to fully investigate their veracity or lack thereof, and what they concluded.”
