USSS Director Issues Zero-Tolerance Order Following Agent’s Social Media Post on Charlie Kirk Murder

Secret Service Director Sean Curran has issued a zero-tolerance directive within the agency after an agent publicly celebrated the murder of Charlie Kirk. The email, obtained by RealClearPolitics, was sent to all agency employees following a series of security lapses and public missteps.

The controversy centers on Agent Anthony Pough, who posted on social media that Kirk deserved to be assassinated due to “karma.” Pough has been placed on administrative leave and is expected to be terminated, according to sources familiar with the situation.

The order comes in the wake of recent security breaches, including a Glock being smuggled through screening at President Trump’s Virginia golf course over Labor Day weekend, as well as a confrontation between far-left protesters and Trump at a restaurant, which ended after Secret Service agents escorted the individuals out.

Senator Marsha Blackburn sent a letter to Curran demanding Pough’s immediate termination and criticizing the agency for repeated failures and a lack of reforms since last year’s assassination attempts against President Trump.

In his email to staff, Curran emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism and impartiality:

“To the Men and Women of the Secret Service,

I’m writing to remind all employees that we swear an oath to those we protect to conduct ourselves with the highest standards of conduct on and off duty.

When our actions draw public attention for the wrong reasons, we fall short of that duty and compromise the trust essential to fulfill our mission.

Let me be clear, politically motivated attacks in our nation are increasing—seemingly every day. The men and women of the Secret Service must be focused on being the solution, not adding to the problem. We must operate every day without bias towards political affiliation. We owe it to ourselves and those we are sworn to protect.”
