The Pentagon has raised concerns about an alleged deepening partnership between Russia and Iran, highlighting the growing cooperation between the two nations amid Russia's ongoing war in Ukraine.
During a press conference on Thursday, Deputy Pentagon Press Secretary Sabrina Singh addressed a question regarding a recent meeting between Russian and Iranian leaders. Singh refrained from speculating on the specifics of the visit but noted the broader trend of increasing collaboration.
Singh explained that a deepening cooperation and relationship between Russia and Iran has been evident over the past two years, with Russia continually seeking weapons from Iran.
Singh also pointed to recent developments, including Russia's promise of missile support to Iran following a defense minister's visit to the Middle Eastern nation. She emphasized that the U.S. remains committed to defending Israel, stating, “Iran has a choice. We have been very clear in our messaging when it comes to the defense of Israel. We are going to stand in the defense of Israel, just as we did on April 13th.”
The United States has recently increased its military presence in the Middle East, deploying the USS Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group to the region. However, the Pentagon has not disclosed specific details about the deployment locations of these additional defense resources.
The Pentagon did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for further comment.
