Iran has put forward a new proposal aimed at resuming negotiations with the United States to reach a deal to end the ongoing conflict, according to state media reports Friday.
The proposal was delivered Thursday evening to Pakistan, with Iran continuing to use the country as an intermediary to reestablish talks with Washington, according to Islamic Republic News Agency. Details of the draft have not been disclosed.
U.S. Central Command Commander Brad Cooper on Thursday briefed President Trump on what was described as a potential “final blow” against Iran, including requests to deploy hypersonic Dark Eagle missiles to the region alongside increased bomber and carrier presence.
President Trump recently claimed of Iran’s position, “They’re sitting in a CAVE. THEY WANT A DEAL… BADLY.” He later said he was “not satisfied” with the new proposal, though he did not detail its shortcomings.
