Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley (R‑Iowa) released records showing repeated efforts by DOJ and FBI leaders to block an investigation into the Clinton Foundation. The documents, including emails and timelines, detail actions that prosecutors and agents say prevented subpoenas, interviews, and evidence collection.
Grassley said the records, obtained through oversight requests and whistleblower disclosures, show a pattern of obstruction during the Obama-Biden administration, actions taken under the leadership of then-Deputy Director Andrew McCabe. He cited a July 2016 directive from FBI leadership that barred agents from issuing subpoenas or conducting interviews related to the Clinton Foundation, followed by a November 2016 decision to block the review of potentially relevant information found on Anthony Weiner’s laptop.
Records also show that when the investigation resumed in 2017 under the Trump administration, DOJ leadership provided incomplete documents and failed to respond to follow‑up requests. Arkansas prosecutors raised concerns that conflicts of interest at the DOJ’s Washington headquarters undermined confidence in the department’s support.
Grassley thanked Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel for providing the records and demanded additional documents by Dec. 29, 2025, including search warrants and communications tied to the Clinton Foundation inquiry.
