Mike Pompeo, who served as Secretary of State under President Trump, relayed intrigue in the possibility of being picked as Trump's running mate and Vice President, saying “I am almost certain that I would say yes to a request like that.”

When Pompeo was asked on a show Wednesday if he would consider being Trump's running mate he stated “If I got a chance to serve or the president wanted me to serve and I thought I could make a difference, I am almost certain that I would say yes to a request like that,” adding “If I thought I could literally help the president be successful in whatever role that might be, I'd be pretty inclined to go try and be part of the team to actually deliver good outcomes for the country.”

When Trump was asked about his potential pick during a Town Hall event on Fox News in January, he responded, “I can't tell you that really, I mean, I know who it's going to be.”

Trump later explained that the most important benchmark to be met is “somebody that you think will be a good president.”
