The Supreme Court on Monday wiped out the contempt of Congress conviction against Steve Bannon, who had been prosecuted after declining to comply with a subpoena issued by the Jan. 6th committee.

In a brief, unsigned order, the Court vacated the charges without offering an explanation, and no justices publicly dissented from the decision.

The justices also pointed to a move by the Trump Justice Department to withdraw the indictment, sending the case back to a lower court to dismiss it.
