Trump Announces Two-Week Ceasefire With Iran Following Talks With Pakistan

by | Apr 7, 2026

President Trump said he has agreed to pause military action against Iran for two weeks after discussions with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir.

In a Truth Social post, Trump stated the suspension is contingent on Iran agreeing to the “complete, immediate, and safe opening” of the Strait of Hormuz, framing the move as part of a “double sided ceasefire.” He said U.S. forces had already met and exceeded all military objectives, allowing room for negotiations to proceed.

Trump also revealed that the U.S. has received a 10-point proposal from Iran, describing it as a workable framework for a broader agreement. He said most major points of contention between the two sides have already been resolved, with the two-week pause intended to finalize terms.

The agreement was reached just over an hour before the deadline Trump had set for Iran.
