Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko submitted his resignation Monday, saying he made the move so his post would not be used as a tool of political confrontation after an anti-corruption investigation reached his office.
“This is a political decision, and I have made it consciously,” Kravchenko said. NABU and SAPO say a department official in the Prosecutor General’s Office ran a criminal group that took bribes to protect fraudulent call centers targeting Ukrainians and foreigners, then laundered the proceeds through real estate and other assets. Kravchenko has not been charged and denies any involvement.
President Zelenskyy said Tuesday he would send the resignation request to parliament, which must approve it.
