Jack Smith Tracked Personal Data on 639,000 Trump Supporters, Including MAGA Hat Buyers

Jack Smith’s special counsel office and the Biden Justice Department obtained records on sales of red MAGA hats, including individual buyers, their purchases and shipping addresses, according to a memo released by Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley as part of his Arctic Frost investigation oversight.

The released spreadsheet lists order dates, order numbers, product names, product identification codes, quantities and shipping and fulfillment details. The entries shown identify the product as a red MAGA hat. The records also contain fields for buyers’ names and shipping addresses.

Grassley’s memo also detailed a much larger collection of personal information involving at least 639,000 Republican donors, voters and supporters. The records included more than 148,000 spreadsheet entries identifying donors, some of whom contributed as little as $1. The information included names, dates of birth, physical and email addresses, Republican voter registration, congressional and state legislative districts, occupations, employers, donation amounts, the last four digits of credit card numbers and donor analysis data. The earliest contribution identified dated to 2005.

Grassley argued that the information collected went beyond what was necessary for Smith’s special counsel mandate and further shows an effort “to map out the entire Republican Party apparatus.” The records also included names of Trump campaign personnel and a catalog of campaign merchandise.
