House Oversight Committee Subpoenas Attorney General Over Epstein Investigation

by | Mar 17, 2026

Following a committee-wide vote, House Oversight Chairman James Comer issued a subpoena to Attorney General Pam Bondi to appear for a deposition on April 14 regarding the Department of Justice’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation and compliance with the Epstein Files Transparency Act.

In a letter accompanying the subpoena, Comer said the committee is reviewing possible mismanagement of federal probes into Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, the circumstances of Epstein’s death, the operation of sex-trafficking networks, and potential ethics violations by officials who may have sought to protect their activities.

The committee cited Bondi’s oversight role and said her testimony could inform legislative efforts to reform federal sex-trafficking investigations, including the use of non-prosecution and plea agreements.
