The Senate voted 51-45 Tuesday to confirm Kevin Warsh to a 14-year term on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, advancing President Trump’s effort to install him as the central bank’s next chair.
The Senate is expected to hold a separate vote later this week on confirming Warsh as chair, replacing Jerome Powell when Powell’s term expires Friday.
Warsh will take the board seat previously held by Stephen Miran, a Trump adviser who joined the Fed last year after a vacancy opened from an early resignation. His term as governor will run through 2040.
