Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime associate, is set to give a deposition to the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee on Feb. 9, Chair James Comer announced Wednesday, with the session expected to be virtual.
The timing coincides with the panel’s review of contempt actions against Bill and Hillary Clinton for ignoring subpoenas related to the Epstein investigation.
Maxwell, serving a 20-year sentence in a Texas prison camp for her role in Epstein’s trafficking operation, had previously indicated she would invoke her Fifth Amendment rights and not participate. In a Jan. 20 letter to Comer, her attorneys reiterated that stance and requested the deposition be postponed until her legal matters are resolved, calling any immediate questioning “political theater” that would yield no new information.
