Reports emerged last week that an ABC News whistleblower was preparing to expose both the network and the Kamala Harris presidential campaign for allegedly rigging the September 10th debate in favor of Harris and against President Trump. The claims suggested Harris was given advance notice of the debate questions, while Trump would face live fact-checking.
Now, the whistleblower has released a sworn, notarized statement dated September 9, 2024, just one day before the debate. In the statement, they allege that the Harris campaign “restricted the scope” of ABC News' debate questions and insisted that only Trump would be fact-checked during the event.
The whistleblower, who has worked for ABC News for over a decade in various technical and administrative roles, wrote:
“I have observed significant transformations in the nature of news reporting at ABC News since its acquisition in 1996. These changes suggest a shift from unbiased reporting to a model influenced by external factors.”
While the whistleblower emphasized they do not support Donald Trump as a candidate, they stated they are releasing the information to address concerns about perceived bias within the network's handling of the debate. The Harris campaign allegedly imposed strict conditions, forbidding questions on topics such as Joe Biden's health, Harris' tenure as Attorney General in San Francisco, and allegations of embezzlement involving her brother-in-law, Tony West.
In addition, the whistleblower claims to have secret recordings that support their allegations about the fact-checking arrangement and the specific topics that were off-limits under threat of Harris not participating in the debate. Copies of the statement have been sent to Speaker Mike Johnson, among others.
