A group of 200 retired U.S. military personnel, including former generals and admirals, have publicly endorsed Donald J. Trump for president, asserting that he is uniquely qualified to secure America’s borders and ensure national safety.
The coalition, known as Flag Officers 4 America, made their endorsement on Monday, emphasizing the need for stronger military readiness and voicing concerns over the current state of the U.S. military.
In their endorsement letter, the former military leaders praised Trump as a “proven leader” who they believe can effectively address national security challenges and international threats. The letter described him as the candidate who can “secure our border, repulse our adversaries, revitalize our economy, and keep America safe and strong.”
The group also expressed concerns about deepening divisions within the U.S., attributing much of the discord to cultural conflicts fueled by the Democratic Party. They pointed to recent incidents on college campuses where students and faculty were reported to have supported terrorist groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, referencing flag burnings and displays of those organizations’ flags on American soil.
Additionally, the letter warned of foreign adversaries exploiting the perceived political and social turmoil in the U.S. The retired officers referenced a report from the Heritage Foundation that rated the U.S. military as “weak” and cited concerns from a congressional report about America’s ability to prevail in conflicts with similarly advanced military powers.
