The Senate on Tuesday approved the $95 billion package to deliver aid to Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. The bill will now be sent to Biden for his signature.
Following the House's endorsement of the $95 billion foreign aid package through four separate bills over the weekend, the legislation was consolidated into a single package and brought to the Senate. It garnered bipartisan support, passing with a vote of 79-18.
The package encompasses $60.8 billion in aid for Ukraine, $26.4 billion to bolster Israel, including humanitarian assistance for Gaza, and $8.1 billion allocated for allies in the Indo-Pacific region. It also contains provisions permitting the sale of frozen assets belonging to Russian oligarchs to finance future aid to Ukraine.
The package also includes a measure mandating the sale of TikTok within a year or imposing a ban on the app in the U.S., despite assurances from its Chinese owners that they intend to challenge the legislation in court.
