President Trump on Wednesday night convened with Polish President Andrzej Duda, marking another instance in a string of discussions he's had with foreign leaders.
Their meeting took place at Trump Tower in New York City, where Trump is residing while attending his criminal trial concerning an alleged hush money scheme.
According to the Trump campaign's readout of their meeting, the two leaders engaged in a lengthy discussion lasting two and a half hours, covering topics such as the war in Ukraine and the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The Trump campaign stated that the two leaders delved into Duda's proposal for NATO countries to allocate 3 percent of their GDP towards defense spending.
Trump's “America First” foreign policy has been characterized by questioning the level of U.S. assistance to Ukraine, advocating for European nations to bear the bulk of the aid burden for Kyiv.
Duda and Trump had a positive and strong relationship during Trump's first term, with Duda even suggesting naming a Polish military base after Trump.
In recent weeks, Trump has met with Hungarian President Viktor Orbán and British Foreign Secretary David Cameron.
Reports also claim that he held a call with Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
