Supreme Court declines Navarro’s second prison appeal

by | Apr 29, 2024

The Supreme Court rejected a request from former Trump advisor Peter Navarro for the second time, denying his request to avoid prison time while appealing his contempt of Congress conviction.

In a recent emergency request, Peter Navarro sought permission from the Supreme Court to remain out of prison while he appealed his conviction at the federal appeals court in Washington, DC. Chief Justice John Roberts denied this request on March 18, leading Navarro to report to prison the next day. Navarro then submitted the request again, this time to Justice Neil Gorsuch, Trump's initial nominee to the high court.

Gorsuch referred Navarro's request to the full Supreme Court, which discussed it during a closed-door conference on Friday. The court ultimately rejected the request on Monday without providing any comment.
