The Republican National Committee (RNC), in partnership with the Georgia Republican Party and Fulton County Republican Party, has filed a lawsuit accusing election officials in Fulton County, Georgia, of failing to hire a sufficient number of Republican poll workers for the upcoming election.
The lawsuit targets Nadine Williams, the Director of Fulton County’s Department of Registration and Elections, as the defendant. According to the complaint, only nine of the 45 qualified Republican poll workers submitted for consideration were hired for the early voting period. For Election Day itself, just six out of 62 qualified Republican poll workers were selected. The lawsuit further claims that Williams violated state law by not directly hiring poll workers from the lists of qualified candidates provided to her. Instead, the responsibility was allegedly delegated to temporary agencies and individual polling location managers.
The lawsuit calls for the court to mandate that Williams hire poll workers from the provided lists or issue written explanations to those not selected, detailing the reasons for their rejection. This lawsuit is one of 41 active cases the RNC is currently involved in for the 2023-2024 election cycle.
