President Trump said a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte resulted in a framework for a potential agreement covering Greenland and the broader Arctic region, describing the talks as “very productive” and the outcome as beneficial for the United States and all NATO nations.
In a Truth Social post, Trump said the developing agreement led him to suspend tariffs that had been scheduled to take effect on February 1, stating the decision was based on the understanding reached with NATO leadership. He added that further discussions are underway regarding “The Golden Dome” and its relevance to Greenland, with additional details to be released as negotiations continue.
