Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang announced that the company has received clearance from the Trump administration to begin exporting its advanced H20 artificial intelligence chips to China.
The news, shared in a company blog post late Monday, marks a key development in ongoing trade negotiations. “The U.S. government has assured Nvidia that licenses will be granted, and Nvidia hopes to start deliveries soon,” the company said.
Speaking to reporters in Beijing, Huang emphasized China’s significance in the global AI ecosystem, noting that “half of the world’s AI researchers are in China” and that it is vital for American companies to remain competitive in such a fast-moving market. He also confirmed that the administration had approved Nvidia’s license filings to begin shipments.
In April, the Trump administration had upheld export restrictions introduced in January under Biden, limiting the sale of Nvidia’s H20 chips and AMD’s MI308 chips to China over national security concerns.
