California Governor Gavin Newsom announced Monday that he and his family are under DOJ investigation, alleging the probe is politically motivated and aimed at harming a potential presidential campaign.
The governor said investigators are free to review his records but urged that his wife and family be left out of what he described as a political vendetta. Newsom pledged to continue opposing the president and said he would not be intimidated by the investigation.
White House correspondent Shelby Talcott reported on X that a source familiar with the situation claims there are “several investigations” involving Gavin Newsom, reportedly focused on his wife’s taxes and his chief of staff. The post says the probes did not originate from the main DOJ and are instead based in Sacramento, involving whistleblowers, according to the source cited.
