Judge Cannon approves Smith motion for redactions

Judge Cannon approved a motion submitted by Jack Smith in March concerning an upcoming filing from Walt Nauta, a co-defendant of Trump. Smith had requested significant redactions to certain parts of the filing prior to its public release.

On Wednesday, Judge Cannon addressed Smith's request, agreeing that certain portions should be redacted.

In his order, Smith outlined specific sections of the filing that he deemed necessary for redaction before public release. He mentioned in the filing that one section refers to documents that are currently under seal. Another part discusses “a sealed grand jury proceeding in the District of Columbia involving a third client of his counsel, unrelated to this case,” while another section supposedly identifies potential government witnesses.
