Israel, Syria, and the United States have agreed to establish a joint communication cell for intelligence sharing, military de-escalation, diplomatic engagement, and commercial coordination, according to a statement released Tuesday.
The agreement followed meetings between senior Israeli and Syrian officials in Paris and confirmed that the United States will supervise the mechanism, which is intended to address disputes quickly and prevent misunderstandings. Officials also agreed to begin discussions between Jerusalem and Damascus on civilian matters, including medicine, energy, and agriculture
The Israeli delegation included Ambassador to Washington Yechiel Leiter, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s military secretary Roman Gofman, and Acting National Security Council head Gil Reich. Syria was represented by Foreign Minister Assad al-Shaibani and intelligence chief Hussein Salameh. The U.S. delegation included envoy Steve Witkoff, Jared Kushner, and Syria envoy Tom Barrack.
The communication cell is designed as a standing channel to manage sensitive exchanges, coordinate security messaging, facilitate diplomatic follow-up, and explore commercial issues under U.S. oversight.
