Reza Pahlavi, the exiled Iranian opposition leader and son of the last shah of Iran, issued an urgent appeal to President Trump on X for his ‘attention, support, and action,’ warning that millions of Iranians protesting in the streets are now facing a total communications blackout as the government threatens a brutal crackdown.
“Last night you saw the millions of brave Iranians in the streets facing down live bullets,” the post said. “Today, they are facing not just bullets but a total communications blackout. No Internet. No landlines.”
The message accused Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei of using the blackout to carry out mass violence against protesters, describing the Iranian government as fearing collapse and preparing to unleash a brutal response. “He wants to use this blackout to murder these young heroes,” the post stated.
Pahlavi said protesters had already overwhelmed security forces through sheer numbers and credited President Trump’s public stance with deterring further violence so far, but warned that time is running out as demonstrators plan to return to the streets soon.
“You have proven and I know you are a man of peace and a man of your word,” the post concluded. “Please be prepared to intervene to help the people of Iran.”
