The Georgia Court of Appeals unexpectedly canceled the December 5 oral arguments regarding whether Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis should be disqualified from the election interference case against President Trump and his associates. The court’s decision, which came without explanation, stated only that the arguments were postponed “until further order of this court.”
The cancellation caught many attorneys involved in the appeal off guard. The request for Willis’s disqualification stemmed from her past relationship with former special prosecutor Nathan Wade. Both Willis and Wade have acknowledged the relationship, which they claim ended last summer, although bodycam footage from a DUI stop involving Willis’ daughter showed the two together in casual attire. A lower court judge previously denied the motion to disqualify Willis.
Trump and his legal team have since appealed, arguing that the indictment should be dismissed and that Willis and her team should be barred from handling the case. As of now, it remains unclear when, or if, the hearing will be rescheduled.
