Apple, Micron Announce More Than $30 Billion in New U.S. Chip and Semiconductor Investments

by | Jul 9, 2026

Apple and Micron announced major new investments this week aimed at expanding U.S. semiconductor manufacturing, strengthening domestic supply chains, and supporting growing demand for artificial intelligence and advanced computing technologies.

Micron said it plans to invest up to $3 billion to strengthen the U.S. semiconductor supply chain, including $500 million in strategic financing for GlobalWafers America’s 300mm silicon wafer manufacturing facility in Sherman, Texas. The companies also signed a 10-year supply agreement that will provide Micron with a long-term domestic source of silicon wafers, a key material used in semiconductor production.

The investment is intended to improve supply security, increase manufacturing flexibility, and support future demand for advanced memory and storage products driven by AI and other data-intensive technologies. The companies also plan to collaborate on next-generation wafer technologies and manufacturing processes.

On Wednesday, Apple announced a new multiyear agreement exceeding $30 billion with Broadcom to design and manufacture custom silicon components and advanced wireless connectivity technologies in the United States. The agreement will result in the production of more than 15 billion U.S.-made chips and support hundreds of American jobs. As part of the deal, Broadcom will invest $1.5 billion to expand and modernize its manufacturing facility in Fort Collins, Colorado, where it will produce advanced radio frequency components and wireless connectivity technologies used in Apple products.

Apple said the agreement is the largest commitment to date under its American Manufacturing Program and is part of the company’s broader pledge to invest $600 billion in the U.S. economy over the next four years. The company also said it has been working with the Trump administration and U.S. businesses to build a more complete domestic semiconductor supply chain.
