The U.S. State Department has approved a potential $3.5 billion foreign military sale to Saudi Arabia involving AIM-120C-8 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs) and related support, the Pentagon announced Friday.

The proposed deal includes 1,000 AMRAAMs, 50 AMRAAM guidance sections, missile containers, spare parts, and logistics support services. The Pentagon’s Defense Security Cooperation Agency formally notified Congress of the possible sale, which remains subject to final agreement and contract signing.

The principal contractor for the deal is RTX Corp.

This approval comes as the U.S. prepares to offer Saudi Arabia a broader arms package exceeding $100 billion during President Trump’s upcoming visit to the kingdom in May.
