President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump issued statements condemning late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, accusing him of promoting divisive and dangerous rhetoric targeting their family that deepens the political sickness within America, with Trump calling for Kimmel to be immediately fired.
The First Lady said Kimmel’s comments were “hateful and violent,” adding that his monologue “isn’t comedy” and instead “deepens the political sickness within America,” while calling on ABC to take action and questioning how long the network will continue to “enable” his behavior.
President Trump pointed to a segment in which Kimmel used a fabricated video depicting Melania Trump and Barron Trump in his studio, quoting Kimmel as saying, “Our First Lady, Melania, is here. Look at Melania, so beautiful. Mrs. Trump, you have a glow like an expectant widow,” calling for Kimmel to be immediately fired by ABC and its parent company Disney.
