Trump Taps Former Deputy Surgeon General Erica Schwartz To Lead CDC

President Trump announced a new slate of leadership appointments for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, naming Dr. Erica Schwartz as Director, where she is set to replace acting CDC Director Jay Bhattacharya.

 

According to the announcement, Schwartz, who holds medical and legal degrees, previously served in the U.S. military and as Deputy Surgeon General during Trump’s first term.

The administration also named Sean Slovenski as CDC Deputy Director and Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Jennifer Shuford as Deputy Director and Chief Medical Officer, and Dr. Sara Brenner as Senior Counselor for Public Health to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
