Trump Says Iran Agrees to Nuclear Terms Ahead of Weekend Talks

by | Apr 17, 2026

President Trump said that Iran has agreed to key terms in ongoing negotiations, including cooperating with the United States to remove enriched uranium from the country, with both sides scheduled to meet this weekend for continued talks.

The president also said Iran has agreed to cease support for proxy groups, including Hezbollah and Hamas, as part of the broader deal framework.

Trump stated the operation would not involve U.S. ground troops, saying “our people” would work alongside Iranian counterparts to retrieve the material and transport it to the United States, adding there would be no need for conflict under those conditions.

Both sides will meet this weekend, with the U.S. maintaining its naval blockade until a final agreement is reached.
