President Trump held a policy meeting Wednesday with son-in-law Jared Kushner and former British Prime Minister Tony Blair to discuss the ongoing war in Gaza, according to the White House.
A White House official said the gathering covered all aspects of the 22-month conflict, including the hostage crisis, humanitarian assistance for Palestinians, and planning for Gaza’s future. The official described it as “simply a policy meeting.”
Kushner, who served as Trump’s Middle East envoy during his first term, helped broker the Abraham Accords that normalized relations between Israel and several Arab nations. His work earned him a Nobel Peace Prize nomination.
Blair, who led Britain for a decade, has long been involved in Israeli-Palestinian issues. His institute has published polling since Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023, attack showing most Gazans reject Hamas rule but favor independence from Israel, while advocating for a two-state solution.
A second White House official said Trump “wants the war to end, and he wants peace and prosperity for everyone in the region.” Special envoy Steve Witkoff said Tuesday the administration is preparing “a very comprehensive plan” for Gaza’s future, describing it as both “robust” and humanitarian in intent.
