Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Monday, according to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA). The two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral relations, identifying areas for cooperation, and exploring ways to enhance collaboration across various fields.
Their talks also covered recent regional and international developments, with both sides emphasizing efforts to bolster security and stability, SPA reported. Several issues of mutual interest were addressed during the meeting.
Lavrov's visit to Riyadh included his participation in the seventh GCC-Russia Joint Ministerial Meeting of Strategic Dialogue earlier in the day. At a press conference, Lavrov announced that Russia has invited Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to attend the BRICS summit in Kazan, scheduled for Oct. 22-24.
The BRICS bloc, which last year invited Saudi Arabia, Iran, Ethiopia, Egypt, Argentina, and the United Arab Emirates to join, aims to reshape the global order, which it views as outdated.
