Russia’s ambassador to the UK, Andrei Kelin, has accused Britain of being “directly involved” in the war in Ukraine following reports that UK-made Storm Shadow missiles were fired into Russian territory.
Kelin’s remarks, made during an interview with Sky News on Thursday, came shortly after Ukraine alleged that Russia had launched an intercontinental ballistic missile at Kyiv. The ambassador linked the missile strikes on Russia’s Kursk region—which has been partially under Ukrainian control since August—to direct NATO and British involvement.
“Absolutely, Britain and the UK are now directly involved in this war,” Kelin claimed, adding, “This firing cannot happen without NATO staff, British staff as well.”
Kelin also alleged that Ukraine was deploying foreign mercenaries in its fight against Russian forces, though no evidence was provided to substantiate the claim. Meanwhile, Russia itself has reportedly bolstered its forces with troops from North Korea.
