Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit North Korea for a two-day trip this week, both nations announced on Monday. The announcement comes after months of speculation and growing international concerns about their military cooperation.

North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency announced that President Vladimir Putin will make the state visit on Tuesday and Wednesday. Russia confirmed the visit with a simultaneous announcement.

During President Vladimir Putin's visit to North Korea, the two nations will sign several “important documents,” potentially including a strategic partnership treaty, Russian news agencies reported on Monday, citing a Kremlin aide.

Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov stated that “several documents will be signed,” among them “important, highly significant documents,” according to state-run agencies. Additionally, Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un are scheduled to address the media during the visit.
