President Trump said Monday the U.S. war with Iran could be nearing its end, telling CBS News the conflict is “very complete, pretty much,” and stating Iran’s military capabilities have been largely destroyed, with “no navy, no communications, they’ve got no air force,” and its remaining missiles and drone operations being eliminated.
Trump had previously estimated the war could take about a month to complete, telling CBS News the U.S. is now “very far ahead of schedule.”
Iran announced late Sunday that Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei would replace his father as the country’s supreme leader. Trump dismissed the development, saying, “I have no message for him. None, whatsoever,” while adding he has someone else in mind to lead the country.
The president also warned Tehran against interfering with traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, a waterway that carries roughly 20 percent of the world’s oil supply, saying any attempt to disrupt the passage “would be the end of Iran.”
