Elon Musk’s X has received an inquiry from the U.S. House of Representatives regarding actions taken in Brazil that were alleged breaches of Brazilian law.
Elon Musk, the outspoken CEO, disclosed this development on X in a recent post. According to Musk, the inquiry pertains to actions including the suspension of accounts belonging to current Brazilian parliamentarians and numerous journalists.
This House inquiry comes in response to Brazil Supreme Court judge Alexandre de Moraes' inquiry into Elon Musk. Moraes' inquiry stems from Musk's announcement that he intends to reactivate accounts on X that Moraes had previously ordered to be blocked. Moraes has warned that failure to comply with the order to block certain accounts could result in fines of 100,000 reais ($19,736.32) per day for the platform.
The dispute between Brazil and Musk arose when the billionaire, who owns the platform in question and advocates for free speech, contested Moraes' decision to block specific accounts.
Musk declared that all restrictions on the platform will be lifted, deeming them unconstitutional. He has also called for the Brazilian Supreme Court judge to resign.
