Judge presiding over Georgia election case dismisses some charges against Trump

by | Mar 13, 2024

The judge overseeing the Georgia election interference case has dismissed some charges against President Trump, while others remain.

Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee issued an order on Wednesday stating that six charges in the indictment must be dismissed, including three against Trump. However, the order maintains other charges in the indictment, and Judge McAfee noted that prosecutors could pursue a new indictment for the charges he dismissed.

The six dismissed charges pertain to allegations of soliciting elected officials to violate their oaths of office. This includes two charges related to the phone call made by Trump to Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger on January 2, 2021.
