House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, has issued a subpoena seeking information on the political work of Loren Merchan, daughter of New York State Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan.

In a letter to Michael Nellis, founder and CEO of Authentic Campaigns—a firm that has worked for high-profile Democratic clients such as Joe Biden and Kamala Harris—Jordan accused him of failing to comply with House investigators' requests for documents linked to the prosecution of President Trump. The committee had previously reached out to Loren Merchan regarding documents related to the investigation of Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg's case against Trump.

Jordan highlighted in a Wednesday letter that Nellis had rejected both the initial request and a follow-up made later in the month.

“As such, the Committee is left with no choice but to resort to compulsory process,” Jordan stated. He went on to criticize Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, accusing him of abusing his authority by prosecuting a former president and sitting presidential candidate. Jordan pointed to Judge Merchan's refusal to recuse himself from the case, citing potential conflicts of interest due to his daughter’s work in political campaigns against Trump.

Jordan's letter raised concerns over Loren Merchan’s role as president of Authentic Campaigns, questioning whether she and the company financially benefited from Trump’s prosecution. Public reports, Jordan claimed, suggest that both Nellis and Loren Merchan were closely involved in the Biden and Harris presidential campaigns.

According to Jordan, Authentic Campaigns earned over $7 million during Merchan's time working on Harris’s campaign. The firm reportedly earned an additional $2 million for its work during the 2020 Biden-Harris campaign over a single month.

The subpoena is more narrowly focused than previous demands. Jordan’s Aug. 1 letter requested documents from Loren Merchan related to her work for Biden and Harris, as well as any documents mentioning Trump’s indictment or prosecution.

Nellis has been given until Sept. 13 to comply with the subpoena, according to a document obtained by Fox News Digital.

Trump's legal team previously sought Merchan’s recusal from the trial, but the judge declined. A New York state ethics panel backed his decision in June 2023.
