Israel has signed off on the latest U.S.-brokered ceasefire proposal for Gaza, White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt confirmed Thursday. The plan, crafted by President Trump and special envoy Steve Witkoff, was then delivered to Hamas.

“I can also confirm that those discussions are continuing, and we hope that a ceasefire in Gaza will take place so we can return all of the hostages home,” Leavitt said during a briefing.

Asked if Hamas had accepted the proposal, she replied, “Not to my knowledge.” An Israeli official also confirmed Israel’s approval of the plan.

Hamas said Thursday it was still reviewing the “Witkoff proposal,” describing its approach of the review as a “responsible” study aimed at securing relief for civilians and a permanent ceasefire.

The Israeli official told CNN the proposal includes the release of 10 living hostages and 18 deceased ones, along with a 60-day truce. The official offered no details on the possibility of permanent ceasefire negotiations — a key demand from Hamas that Israel has resisted.

Earlier in the day, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also reportedly told families of hostages that he had accepted Witkoff’s proposal, according to the Hostages and Missing Families Forum.
