The House on Wednesday evening approved the Senate’s continuing resolution to reopen the federal government through January, sending the measure to President Trump for his signature.
The vote, which passed 222–209 largely along party lines, marks the end of the record-breaking shutdown that reached its 42nd day this week. Six Democrats supported the measure, while two Republicans opposed it. The bill excludes an extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies expiring at year’s end, a key Democratic demand during negotiations.
