The House Judiciary Committee has subpoenaed Dr. Philip Dormitzer, former Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer of RNA and Viral Vaccines at Pfizer, as part of its investigation into whether the company delayed releasing COVID-19 vaccine trial data to influence the 2020 presidential election.
Chairman Jim Jordan sent a letter to Dormitzer on Monday stating that the committee had sought his voluntary cooperation since May 15, asking him to produce four categories of documents and participate in a transcribed interview. The inquiry centers on whether Pfizer sat on the positive results of clinical trials for its COVID-19 vaccine to influence the 2020 election.
Dormitzer’s attorney, Susan Brune, notified the committee on May 29 that he declined to testify. Brune also told the committee during a May 28 phone call that Dormitzer would not appear for a transcribed interview and refused to engage on how or when Pfizer would respond to the document requests.
A follow-up written response from Brune stated that Dormitzer possessed “no document” responsive to her interpretation of the request. Jordan said Brune did not address the specific categories of documents the committee had outlined.
The subpoena seeks all requested documents, as well as a formal deposition from Dormitzer.
