Georgia Appeals Court Disqualifies Fani Willis From Trump Election Case

by | Dec 19, 2024

A Georgia appeals court ruled on Thursday to disqualify Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis from leading the criminal election interference case against President Trump and other defendants.

Despite removing Willis, the court upheld the indictment against the defendants, who are accused of attempting to overturn the election “results” in Georgia during the 2020 presidential election to Joe Biden.

The decision overturns a previous ruling by a Fulton County trial court judge, which allowed Willis to remain on the case. Trump’s attorneys had argued for her disqualification, citing her romantic relationship with a prosecutor she had appointed to the investigation.
