The FBI has expanded its criminal investigation into suspected election irregularities, issuing a grand jury subpoena for a large tranche of voting records from Maricopa County, Arizona, according to Just The News. Sources said agents are receiving gigabytes of electronic election data from the county as part of the inquiry.

House Administration Committee Chairman Bryan Steil said election observer reports from across the country are also being reviewed.

“We’re digging back through those reports that were submitted by our election observers that were deployed across the country,” Steil said. “This is where working hand in glove with other federal government agencies is so important.

“We have reports documenting instances that occurred in Arizona and across the country, and we are reviewing those in real time and working hand in glove with federal partners to make sure that the law was followed in every jurisdiction in the country,” he added.

Sources said a joint report from one Republican and one Democratic observer stationed in Maricopa County on election night in 2024 included photos of ballots and a heavily guarded storage facility described as holding ballots from multiple states’ elections. Officials said that report served as one of several foundations for the subpoena executed by the FBI in recent days.

Sources said the bureau is likely to carry out additional searches and subpoenas in other states beyond Georgia and Arizona in the coming weeks.

Republican Arizona State Sen. Mark Finchem said Monday night that the FBI is seeking election-related evidence from Maricopa County covering records from 2020 through 2024, noting the county’s election systems remained largely unchanged during that period and are “basically the same.” His comments followed a statement from Arizona Senate President Warren Petersen confirming he turned over 2020 election data to the FBI in response to a subpoena.
