Jack Dorsey has departed from the board of Bluesky, a social networking service he helped fund and promote a year ago. The Twitter co-founder highlighted his new philanthropic grants to support open internet protocols, which he referred to as “freedom technology.” Dorsey also mentioned that X falls into this category of technology.
BlueSky is a network and protocol initiated to realize Dorsey's vision of Twitter as a decentralized service without centralized control. It became accessible to all interested users in February.
When asked on X whether he was still on the Bluesky board, Dorsey responded with a “no.”
Dorsey has significantly reduced the number of people he follows on X to just three individuals: Musk, Edward Snowden, and Stella Assange, the wife of the imprisoned WikiLeaks publisher. This shift indicates a potential improvement in relations between X's owner and Dorsey. Previously, Dorsey had expressed discontent with Musk's takeover and the drastic changes made to Twitter, stating on Bluesky a year ago that “it all went south” following Musk's involvement.
