X Corp Files Objection to Transfer of Alex Jones’ X Accounts in Bankruptcy Case

by | Nov 25, 2024

Elon Musk’s X Corp has formally objected to the transfer of X accounts associated with Alex Jones and Infowars, citing its Terms of Service. The objection seeks to block the potential sale of these accounts to The Onion during Jones’ bankruptcy proceedings.

According to the filing, X accounts are non-transferable and remain the property of X Corp. The company emphasized that account licenses are personal, non-assignable agreements that cannot be sold without its consent.

The move comes as Jones continues navigating bankruptcy after losing defamation lawsuits filed by families of Sandy Hook shooting victims. The Onion’s bid to purchase Infowars faced a setback earlier this month when Judge Christopher M. Lopez raised concerns about transparency in the auction process.

X Corp had previously filed a motion to participate in the case, underscoring its legal stake in the accounts’ ownership.
